So, instead of doing “New Year Resolutions” the past few years – which, statistically, fail – my husband and I have been doing “Word for the Year”.
It’s a word that we want to be a theme for the upcoming year. I can’t remember 2023’s word, but the word for 2024 was “EMBODIMENT”. Everything I learned and worked on in 2023, I wanted to put in practice in 2024. Did I? In some ways, yes, and others, no – but I don’t feel like I failed or anything.
So, what is my word for 2025?
I thought I had it. For both 2025 (TRUTH), and 2026 (THRIVE). But that has changed. For 2025. 2026 is still going to be THIVE as that’s the year I turn 50.
For 2025, my word is “BREAK-THROUGH”, and this is why it changed.
Back a few weeks ago, I saw one of these posts: “the first 4 words you see will be your Mantra for 2025”. I do these things for fun, and I rarely comment my results… but this time I did, and I took a screenshot for some reason:

Last week, I started up a course I had been having the urge to start again. I got to the end of the first chapter, and something seemed familiar… then I realized it was the 3 words:

The freaky thing is, they’re in the same order!!!!
When I mentioned it to my husband – and that the only word missing was “break-through” – he made the comment that that should be my word for the year! I knew it before it even came out of his mouth.
Break-throughs can happen at any time about any aspect of your life. I feel like I’ve been on the cusp of a few major changes – or finally coming to conclusions to internal dilemmas – but I’ve been too afraid or uncertain to make the leap.
But things are already in motion. I’ve been getting hints and nudges the past week or so – another nudge this morning. More like a shove, really! We were at our regular Spoga class (45 min spin followed by 45 minutes of yoga), and as we were getting set up for yoga, minus the yoga instructor – which is unusual – the spin instructor came in and let us know that the yoga instructor had a family emergency, couldn’t make it, and couldn’t get a replacement in time. Understandably, this close to Christmas!
We stayed for a little bit to stretch before packing up and on my way out, I asked the spin instructor (who, incidentally, is the owner!) that if (IF!!!) I was a certified yoga instructor, would I have been permitted to take over and lead the yoga class. Of course, she gave me a resounding “YES!”. She actually seemed excited – my husband has been obsessing about becoming a spin instructor lately, so suddenly they have access to a (future) spin and yoga instructor who have been going to the studio for 8 months or so.
So…. my husband is currently working on his spin certification (signed up today), and I made sure that I could sign into my yoga program – 100 hour Yin Yoga Certification.
It’ll still take me time to get it, but it’s the first step.
