Day 13 of Self Love February:

As I’m writing this (19 Jan 23) I have a mild headache, stuffy sinuses, a raw sore nose, and a knot in my throat from crying what feels like all day.
I’ve been struggling all week, and it’s been getting progressively worse. When I got into work today, I let my Supervisor know that I wasn’t doing well… and immediately started to cry. She suggested I go to the doctor to see about getting a few days off – which I did receive.
However, I also asked for a referral back to the therapist I had been working with last year.
As well, I asked for medication.
Antidepressants.
It’s hard for us to ask for help. Especially when it has to do with our mental health. Doubly so if it involves medication.
There is absolutely no shame in this if this is what you need; it is an ultimate expression of self love.
But don’t worry if your loving expression isn’t this extreme. I’m just going through a hard time right now, and this hadn’t crossed my mind as an example until it happened.
Some other examples might include:
- Got dressed up and took yourself out to a nice restaurant
- Buy yourself a nice piece of jewelry – that one piece you’ve always wanted but never received as a gift
- Go on an exotic vacation solo
- All day spa
- Yoga and wellness retreat
- Invested in a housecleaner once or twice a month
However you answer this, it could be a good time to decide to do something loving for yourself if it’s been a while. We get so busy taking care of other people, sometimes we forget to take care of ourselves!
